So they're forecasting 50+ mm of rain on the day of our arrival in Sydney.
My forecast? Really frizzy hair. ;-)

In a month from now...
I will be in Las Vegas for another couple of days before I return to Canada; which will be my home for another 4 days only. T'is then that I will head to the place I will now come home - Sydney.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm freakin' excited and still scared. Have cold feet ever stopped me before, though? Nope!
I'm sure that as much as we're going to freak out right before and during the move, I'm sure everything will be fine. I've been through a lot with my lil hubby and we make such a good team that whatever happens, we can only make it and be stronger still. Sappy - I know! ;-)

The date
On January 30, 2012 I will be boarding a plane that will bring me to my new home, losing one day in the process.
Once I step foot outside, I will likely wonder what I was thinking when I decided to wear 5 layers of clothes and will smile like an idiot when I feel the heat of the sun on my face. Summer, I'm ready for you.
So exciting!!

And so it begins
My partner has finally received the offer, signed it and is returning it to the company next week! The wait was nerve-racking and our enthusiasm was starting to fall, but we got there. Yay!
Unfortunately, it's not clear exactly when we're leaving. We have to apply for the working visa (well, he'll do most of the job on that one), decide what we'll bring with us, decide what to do with accounts and services, continue researching apartments, visit family & friends back home, go to Vegas (What!? We have a package deal we need to use!), pack and go. I have a feeling we'll need to drink a lot of coffee in the coming weeks... :-)
Everything that's been happening to us in the past year is so good. We're happy we have this golden opportunity to experience life on the other side of the world. I'm looking forward to getting on that plane and starting a new life - again!
EXCITING!!!

Time to get back to reality
So, I've spent the last two weeks of my life in one of the most beautiful country in the world. Saying that I loved Switzerland is almost an understatement. Except for the fact that everything is so bloody expensive, everything else is really great.
That part of our trip was actually a tour with Insight Vacations and I am happy we chose to do that. Not only did we see plenty of things we would not have not have seen if we had gone on our own, but we learned so much about the country and the culture that I can't remember everything. Most of the meals were included, which was great for the wallet. Did I mention Switzerland is bloody expensive?
So what did I like the most about the country? The food, of course. If it wasn't that I was so afraid of gaining 20 lbs, I would've been eating all the time! :-)
After the tour of Switzerland was over, we headed over to Germany for a few days. We spent some time in Munich and then in Titisee-Neustadt which is in the Black Forest. The down-time there was great to recover from the highly demanding tour we just got off of. Honestly, I didn't know it would be so tiring to tour in a group!
Now that I'm back home and getting mentally ready to go back to work, I'm already dreaming of my next vacation...

While We Wait To Hear About Sydney...
I suppose we should start focusing on our trip to Switzerland and Germany...
After a few weeks anxiously waiting for our tickets, brochures and all to arrive, we finally received everything yesterday. I was so excited to hold it in my hand as it makes the trip feel real at last!
I can't believe we're leaving in just a little more than a week. Although it is my first time doing a European tour, I have only heard good things about Insight Vacations, so I am really looking forward to it.
Time to get through the few days we have left, buy what needs to be bought and pack what need to be packed. Yay!!

Interesting!
Some people have really interesting gifts in life and whether you want to believe in it or not is your choice.
The job opportunity in Sydney came about last Monday. His dad was spending time with his cousin throughout that week and we kept the possible move from him until Thursday. Well...on Wednesday, Dad-in-law and his cousin were discussing our upcoming trip to Europe and she told him, out of the blue, that she can see his son working in another country. She has visions of him working in Brazil and Switzerland. She also sees the Dad-in-law with us in Aruba.
Aruba? Where did that come from?
I find it quite amusing that she sees him in those places, but a little scary that she mentioned Switzerland as we were seriously thinking about a possible relocation there not too long ago.
Now that her prediction has been duly documented, I cannot wait to read this blog back in a few years and see how accurate she was.
